Derina Johnson - Singer Soprano

 

 

Profile

Derina studies with Suzanne Murphy at the Royal Irish Academy of Music. She is a Licentiate of the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music and a graduate of University College Dublin where she obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with German, Italian and French studies.

Derina has broad experience both as a solo singer and in ensemble. She performed in the Opera Ireland productions of Tosca and Jenufa in the Gaiety Theatre, Dublin. She has been a soloist with Anúna since 1998, recording numerous albums, travelling extensively world-wide and performing regularly on television and prominent Irish stages including The Point, RDS and National Concert Hall. Performing with the National Chamber Choir, Derina toured Ireland under Celso Antunes and also sang with the conductors Johan Duijck and Terry Edwards. She sings regularly with many Dublin based professional choirs including critically acclaimed performances with Resurgam and the Irish Baroque Orchestra under Lawrence Cummings. As a student Derina was awarded a scholarship to sing with the University College Dublin Choral Scholars, recording an album and travelling on two European tours.
